Repair is a thoughtful and meditative practice that can restore function while adding beauty to the textiles we love, use, and admire. We will cover the techniques, tools, and provide an understanding of how material weight, fiber content, and structural considerations influence the overall look and feel of your mend.

We'll look at repair examples pulled from the Textile Artifacts collection, from patches on worn-through blankets to invisible mends on sheer curtains. This deep-dive into the collection will demonstrate how appropriate repairs can keep your fabrics in beautiful use for a lifetime.

Instructor:

Lorenza Lattanzi is a hand quilter, weaver, and textile repairer based in Brooklyn, New York. She is primarily self-taught. She co-owns Sharktooth, a shop specializing in antique and vintage decorative textiles.
